Mission

My mission is to provide you with effective beauty, skincare, and haircare solutions while maintaining your skin's and hair's health. I only choose natural ingredients because nature already provides a solution that is both gentle and beneficial.

My Story

I have always loved art and doing fun, creative things with my hair and makeup. After high school, I became a hairstylist (I still have a cosmetology license, but I no longer work in a salon). Yay, my first real career as an adult! Well...I developed an allergy to PPDs in hair dye after a few years, which is fairly common among hairstylists. After my boss told me to keep coloring my hair, I quit. The rashes on my body led me to see a doctor, who diagnosed me with Contact Dermatitis. I was given a long list of things I can and cannot do. One thing they said was to lotion twice a day, but the lotions they recommended didn't work and irritated my skin, so I made my own natural, preservative-free lotions for years, which kept my rashes at bay and eventually calmed my skin. Eventually, I found premade PPD free dyes and used things like Henna to color my hair without PPDs. The story doesn't end there. Later on I developed another type of exsema triggered by a specific ingredient in soap. Finally, I found a natural lotion that helped. I started looking at the ingredients on all of my cosmetics after finding this strange ingredient, and what I found was appalling and gross. To replace the sheep hair-derived ingredient, different types of plastics, and an extensive list of preservatives, I had no choice but to make my own products.

History of Primrose

Primrose was created in 2022. I'd been making my own lotion for years, and DIY skincare products were very popular at the time. I started a business with my friend Kate and sold our stuff at the Manhattan Farmers Market. The first name we thought of was Prairie Rose, which turned into Primrose.
I was passionate about designing and crafting all kinds of natural skincare products that I sold at the market. It was important to me that only ingredients I could safely eat went on my lips. Over half of my ingredients come from the grocery store, but they aren't all food grade, so don't eat them. I know you were thinking about it.

People's Grocery

After the market, I sold lip balm at People's Grocery, a natural grocery store that was around for a long time. I'm so sad that it's now closed.
